2010. Football. The people game..... sorry that's Star Trek isn't it? Arthur C. Clarke would never write such poorly punctuated rubbish.
I watched last nights (Thursday) season opener for the same reason that I assume most watched the game. That is because it was footy and it was on the telly. A five month absence made the heart fond enough to even sit through a 60 odd point Carlton win (it wasn't easy but I actually made it all the way to the final siren).
Why test my gag reflexes watching the Blues thump the Tigers? Simple. For the ammunition. I can hear the Carlton faithful crowing already. A great start to the season, this sets us up, Fev who? (I believe Wallsey may have even uttered this towards the end of the game last night). Let's see what happens when they come up against a team that's best player isn't a recovering coke fiend. Seeing them slink back into the depths will be a satisfaction know only by kings and chiefs of industry, I'm sure.
This may make me a negative person but I'm positive Carlton showed nowhere near enough considering the opposition (who for the record will once again be dreadful in 2010 but at least Hardwick will make them honest beggars).
